Renting a furnished apartment in Montreal: What to expect

With years of experience in the furnished housing business, we often get asked about what to expect when renting corporate housing; what’s included; what to look out for; and how we make the experience an awesome one, so we thought we’d put some of this advice out there for you – so that you can pick the best option for your next business trip or vacation to Montreal!

Fees: Be careful of hidden fees when booking with some corporate housing providers. We don’t believe in extra fees at MyStudioMontreal.com – so what you pay for your studio is what you pay for everything, no extra charge for towels, concierge service, or WiFi – and our guests really appreciate that. There’s nothing wrong with companies charging an extra fee for, say, late checkout or pets, but make sure it’s clearly indicated before you book.

In the apartment: Ask about what will be in the apartment when you rent it. With some companies,  “fully-furnished” doesn’t always mean “fully equipped”, and you could find that you’ve booked accommodation with beds, tables and chairs, but not plates, a hairdryer, bathroom toiletries, or washer/dryer. Maybe you won’t always need these things, but it’s good to know whether you’ll need to pack certain items in advance.

Service: A furnished apartment isn’t like a hotel. In fact, we think it’s better. Because you get way more space, a kitchen-dining area (we know the novelty of eating out can get tired if you’re in a city for 6 months), and free WiFi (with us, at least) among other perks. And when it comes to concierge service, we’ve got that covered too. You can ask for personal touches to your room (need a crib or ironing board?), get recommendations for restaurants, events and activities, and call with any questions or needs that crop up. It’s like a hotel, but you don’t have to deal with the other guests in the line-up for the concierge desk!
