March 28, 2016

So what if it’s still cold and there is a lingering chance of snow in the city streets? Montreal revs on full cylinders all through the year! If you’re looking to break the monotony and for something exciting to do, here’s your chance. Whatever your interest, Montreal is bursting at the seams with new experiences.

There’s something for everyone in this great city – take a look at just a few of the events this April, and see if something catches your eye!

Croissant Day

Rejoice! For the Viennoiserie gods have answered all your prayers. Local artisan bakers in Montreal invite you to celebrate Croissant Day on the last day of April this year. All the buttery, flaky goodness you desire will be available to you for just $1 at all participating outlets across the city. Find one near you!

The Harlem Globetrotters

The men are back in Montreal for yet a bigger and more epic basketball extravaganza in celebration of their 90th world tour. The Globetrotters are going to be putting their slick moves on display on April 8 at the Bell Centre. Don’t miss out on a chance to experience masterful dribbling, dunking and picking-and-rolling!

Butterflies Go Free 2016

The Montreal Botanical Garden is welcoming Spring (only in it’s climate-controlled greenhouses, of course!) by performing the annual ritual releasing of the butterflies. It’s a magical spectacle and runs through the month until the 24th of April. Butterflies are most active during the morning time, so I suggest getting there early in the day!

Blue Metropolis Montreal International Literary Festival

Feeling bookish? Find your inner Wordsworth at the Blue Metropolis Montreal International Literary Festival. The ‘international literary hub’ boasts a lineup of writers, workshops, book launches and signings, as well as Poetry Nights! The festival runs through the month so make sure to look through the program and see what interests you!

Montreal International Classical Guitar Festival and Competition

Taking place on the 29th and 30th of April, with the Finals taking place the following month, The Classic Guitar Festival will quite literally be music to your ears. Hosted at Concordia University, the competition features performances by world-renown artists and promises the best guitar solos and ensembles for your listening pleasure. Get your tickets before they sell out!
