Awesome October: What’s happening in Montreal next month

September 8, 2014

What can you do in Montreal during the month of October? The real question is what can’t you do in Montreal? Although the weather is cooling down, the agenda is still filled with fun activities for guys, gals, and families of all ages.

The Black & Blue Festival is one such event. It has been a part of the community since 1991. If you’re someone who like cinema and the arts, this festival always brings some fantastic stories to life, and attending will fill your world with new, exciting plays, music and much more.

If you are a sports fan, you’ll already know that the Montreal Candiens will be gearing up to kick ass on the ice during the entire month of October. No matter what your age, you can’t not enjoy the crazy ice action from Montreal’s beloved hockey team. Grab the kids and all of your friends because group discounts are offered.

Music fans must attend Pop Montreal, a festival occurring in mid-October each year. You can hear sounds from some of the best pop groups and singers in the city – and with more than 400 different artists, you’re bound to find something you like.

Also taking place in October is Oktoberfest (d’oh), which is actually not just about beer! Ok, so there are a LOT of microbrews around, but the festival is all about welcoming in the fall weather and festivities for the whole family, with music, arts, food, games and so much more.

The OFF Festival de Jazz is another can’t miss October event. You’ll enjoy performances from some of the best jazz singers, plus some pretty good festival food. This event has been happening in Montreal since 2000, and you’re sure to find plenty of great acts with more than 300 performers taking stage.

And right at the end of the month, MTLA – La A Table, starts on the 30th of October and runs into November. Bring a hungry stomach, because this event is all about food, and there is plenty of it to go around. The food festival has more than 100 restaurants participating in the event, with delicious samplings of flavours from around the world.
