Why you should come to Montreal this September

August 22, 2014

We’re pretty sure you already know how awesome the summer is here in Montreal, but did you know that there are some pretty cool things happening in September too? Check it out:

If you’re a foodie, then you might just want to venture out of your comfort zone (that would be downtown/Old Port/Plateau, right?) and make your way all the way to the east of town on the 5th of September, where you’ll be rewarded with a huge collection of the city’s finest food trucks at the Olympic Stadium. Entry to the grounds is free, just bring lots of cash to make your food truck crawl easier. Oh, and be prepared for a bit of a wait at each truck (though they do come round with beer, so that’s a plus). There’s everything from vegan desserts to Indian vindaloo – enjoy!

If you like to party to a solid soundtrack of electronic beats, then Jean-Drapeau Park is the place to be every Sunday, for the Piknik Electronik event. It’s the perfect place to relax outdoors with food, friends and great music – surrounded by the natural beauty of this green island park. Check out the schedule and guest DJs here

Another option for music enthusiasts is the Pop Montreal International Music Festival, which takes place between the 17th and 21st of September. You can see over 600 francophone, Canadian, and international pop rock acts, as well as art exhibitions, fashion shows and film screenings.

And if you’re into sports, then September is a pretty good month for you as there will be two very cool events taking place in Montreal. Get on two wheels for Cyclo la Montrealaise, where you can participate in the 90km race or in the 160km one, both taking place on the roads of Montérégie. But if you’re just a fan and you prefer to watch, there’s the Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal on September 14. The race is part of the UCI World Tour, which means you’ll see the best riders in the world right before your very eyes!
