5 Ways to Make the Most of a Montreal Winter!

February 7, 2014

We know you may be tempted to stay cuddled up under the covers while staying in our awesome studios in Montreal right now, but there are plenty of ways to enjoy the city in Winter without suffering frostbite! Check out these suggestions:

The underground City: Montreal has an insurance policy against the cold – it’s called the underground city. Stretching for miles right under the downtown core, this labyrinth of boutique stores, metro stations, and great big malls is the perfect way to while away a day inside, while still being ‘out and about’!

Skiing and Snowboarding: If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em! Bundle up in your snowpants and winter coat and head to one of the many ski resorts just outside the city (think Mont Tremblant, Bromont, or Saint Sauveur). Even if you don’t spend long on the slopes, the views are beautiful, and the apres-ski is always worth it!

Food and Drink: There’s no better excuse to while away a long afternoon having brunch or a late night dinner, and Montreal is a gourmet heaven for foodies. Check out the upscale eateries in the Old Port, or, relax with a book and a cup of coffee in one of the cozy cafes in Mile End or Plateau. With temperatures so low outside, no one will be hurrying you out.

Nightlife: Nothing stops in Montreal for winter, not even at 3 in the morning. So grab a taxi and hit the bars and clubs to warm up in the company of Montreal’s indefatigable partygoers. Better yet, be brave and bundle up for igloofest – the outdoor dance party that happens every year in the Old Port (this weekend is your last chance to catch it!)

Arts and Culture: Montreal has so many museums and galleries you could spend the whole winter wandering her collections. Make sure you check out the Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of Contemporary Art, then choose between architecture, Canadian history, science, archaeology and even comedy!
