Montreal Theatre Update: What to See in July

July 6, 2012

So here we are at the apex of the summer season. July is a huge month for theatre fans with Just for Laughs and Zoofest serving up some amazing performances, there is a lot to choose from in this hot summer month. Here are my best bets for July.

Darling Montreal Comedian Dan Bingham is adopted.

This year at Zoofest for one night only, you can see Dan Bingam’s award-winning play, Adopt This, a tender and funny memoir of a fairly dysfunctional upbringing. This is one of those special plays that will have you laughing and crying in the same moment, it is not to be missed. Catch Adopt This at Theatre Ste Catherine on July 23rd.

Shakespeare in a Park Near You in Montreal

There’s nothing like watching a performance of Shakespeare outdoors, somehow the bold and outlandish words of the bard were meant to be let out into an expanse of open air.  This year Reverberations Theater is touring their performance of The Taming of the Shrew through Montreal’s parks all of July! Summer Theatre Road Trip

If you feel up for a bit of a road trip, there is an interesting musical being put on at the Stanstead, Quebec Haskell Opera house. Ruthless runs from July 13 to 21. A story about a 1950s housewife, her sociopathic but adorable 12 year old daughter, and show business! Tickets are $15 available here.
