What a Day for a Piknic!

Another summer weekend in Montreal, another impossible choice of which festivals, parties, activities and events to take in this time, and then all too soon it is Sunday. This Sunday afternoon, don’t sink into the end-of-weekend doldrums; visit Montreal’s favorite summer-long party, Piknic Electronik at Parc Jean Drapeau. Piknic Electronik is a Sunday afternoon party in the park featuring Electronic music by top artists both local and international, a friendly afternoon picnic party atmosphere, and the beautiful scenery, sun and views of Parc Jean Drapeau, site of the Expo 67 World Fair.

This year Piknic Electronik is celebrating their tenth anniversary with an amazing line-up of superstar DJs and special guests. The piknik 10 series presents four special evening events. This Saturday, August 28th will be their second special event show featuring Squarepusher from Great Britain. Tickets for the special events are $25.

How to Piknic at Montreal’s Favorite Summer Party

For regular Sunday Piknik Electronique tickets are $12 plus taxes at the gate, or $14 inclusive, entry is free for children 12 and under and special family play areas mean fun for everyone.


Festival goers can bring in outside alcohol, these are the rules: One bottle of wine, or three small beer cans, or two tall beer cans per person with a picnic. You must bring real food; a bag of chips does not make a meal so make sure you pack a proper portion. Glass bottles are not allowed on site, excepting bottles of wine.


The best way to get there is by public transportation, either by Metro, Jean Drapeau metro station is on the Yellow line, or how about by boat!

Check the Navettes Maritime website for scedules, the boat leaves from the Jaques Cartier Quays in the Old Port, the cost is $7,50 per crossing.

You can also walk, bike or rollerblade over the Jaques Cartier Bridge from Montreal, and get ready to experience one of the most incredible views of the city.
