Dorval Airport or Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport Montreal is located on Montreal Island, some twenty kilometers from downtown Montreal. The ride is short, it takes more or less a half-hour or 20 minutes (depending on the hour, day of week and the ability of the driver).
First, there is the 747 Express Bus Line.
There is also a shuttle service linking major hotels and the airport of Montreal.
If you have just arrived in Montreal, tickets can be purchased at the airport ticket counter. Signs indicating that lead you to the ticket are clearly visible and the counter is very easy to find.
Downtown is the Central Station, located at 505 Boulevard De Maisonneuve Est (Berri-UQAM) that you buy your tickets.
The shuttle runs every 15 or 20 minutes, but there is a break from 2 o’clock until 7 o’clock in the morning (do not worry, there are no arrivals of aircraft at night).
The shuttle stops at some great hotels with Marriott Chateau, Delta Centre-Ville (you have to walk about 200 meters) and Fairmont Queen Elizabeth.
The cost is very affordable and if you buy a return ticket, it is still cheaper (expect about 25 Canadian dollars for round trip). You can use the return ticket for twelve months from the time of purchase.
Then we can use the STM bus (public transportation). The number 211 runs between the underground station Lionel – Groulx and Dorval train station (the ride lasts about 15 or 20 minutes). But at the Dorval train station, take the 204 to the airport (only 3 minutes, but it is difficult or impossible to cross any highway on foot. In addition, with regard to highways, no pedestrians to cross under the penalty of a heavy fine).
Taxis are relatively cheap. The rate is fixed and unique for the entire central area of Montreal. If you pay in U.S. dollars or euros, taxi drivers will accept the money but their contribution is really weird, so change forward. In any case, accept credit cards.
If you have several suitcases heavy and too large, do not worry: the price of taxi vans (mini-van) is the same and vans are numerous, generally it will take five or ten minutes to take a taxi.
